I walk as much as possible. I recycle everything I can. Can anyone tell me if this latest UN Summit has or will achieve anything productive? Those attending Oktoberfest need no such instructions. That it works is of scientific truth.~ Quote ‘Stargate’;.

Only the most ultra-republican, head-in-the-sand pro-industrialists still deny the situation, and here we are just joking about it. Those attending Oktoberfest need no such instructions. They talk and talk, yet nothing is done. More than six and half million are sure to attend.

Oktoberfest is also a tradition that’s more than 100 years old.

Even the bits of Obama’s speech the media sound-byted out to proles such as I, can be seen as no more than whining about how climate change has affected his (our) country (which is largely responsible for the problem in the first place), and that something ought to be done, by gum! -but what!? One point the ‘ringleader’ of the street protests has made is that world governments have still essentially done nothing. Oktoberfest is 16 days…obviously there will be greater numbers at an event 16x longer. Regardless the PCM is (hopefully) raising awareness to climate change and pissing off the deniers. I wish I could have been there.

The thing about the placebo effect is that it has been know sometimes to make you merely feel better, without actually curing your ailment. That can be quite dangerous when it comes to serious illnesses. The events have to be fun and informative. Two hundred thousand?

Meanwhile Oktoberfest has kicked off in Munich and many other cities around the world, including Cincinnati. I got this picture of some of them in the parade. Due to technology it is now possible to produce voices with help of bots which when essaywriterforhire.com
heard by a schizophrenic may be termed auditory hallucination. If you are going to take that stance, then you would have to explain what is real and what is not. I do not know what the answer is. Most of the researchers (paleontologists) that give presentations for the organization that I work for cite the beer from the local microbrewery as major incentive to come. @MacGyver1968 – Everything you have said in this thread may be more or less true, and it has certainly been both amusing and cynical, as you meant it to be, but what you may be unaware of, because you never have referred to it, is that the UN Climate Change Summit is taking place in NYC (at the UN Bldg, no less) and even the American president has made a speech. So as I said earlier, all your comedy could just as easly be directed at the UN delegates and speakers. I agree with you on the part where it does not work for you, but who are you? what works for you obviously does not work for others, yet you take it upon yourself to think it does not work at all.

Maybe The People’s Climate March needs some marching polka bands and a few beer tents along their route? Originally Posted by ??? No, it’s not organized by the Chinese government.People’s Climate March – Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia If you continue like that you will be accused of bullying. Originally Posted by ??? It would appear that the estimated number in attendance was 310,000 or more in New York alone. The largest climate march in history | MSNBC Originally Posted by Falconer360 Regardless the PCM is (hopefully) raising awareness to climate change and pissing off the deniers. Is there a disconnect between the title of your thread and its content? Is that what you meant to have as a title? It does sound Moaesque. I wonder why you think the world is only about what works for you, is not that kind of arrogant?

PCM is a first time event and has no tradition. So what exactly will be accomplished at this climate rally? A bunch of people talking about stuff? or they actually going to do something useful, like pick up trash? Sorry if I sound cynical, but in my opinion events like this serve one purpose….to make the attendees feel good about themselves…and don’t really accomplish much. However at Oktoberfest you get this:Oktoberfest wins in a landslide.

It was just used as an example of the misalignment of priorities among the populace. The climate rally in New York was pretty inspiring though. The attendees of the protest are urged to bring noisemakers as there will be no celebrity speakers, bands or meetings. Those attending Oktoberfest need no such instructions.

Why couldn’t this thread have morphed into a thread about Pandas instead of Travoltas?or placebo Travoltas? What’s wrong with Oktoberfest? I like Oktoberfest. The People’s Climate March hopes to be the largest rally ever for climate change and global warming and will probably attract a hundred thousand people.

Some folk fall towards religion and find real power in doing so.. Careful now. Oktoberfest is fun….PCM is not. I am going to give a shocker. If you are going to take that stance, then you would have to explain what is real and what is not. Enough with the marches and protests. The PCM is a one day event. Jesus said “Go to where the sinners are”.

The attendees of the protest are urged to bring noisemakers as there will be no celebrity speakers, bands or meetings. It’s quite obvious that you don’t know the difference between the two. Maybe climatologists are wine drinkers?

Also, I agree with MacGyver that Oktoberfest wins in a landslide and that comparing the two events is a false analogy. Blah, blah blabbity blah. Joking aside, if environmental activists want people to get more involved in their events, it’s time to take on a more positive and proactive attitude. They should change the name. Oktoberfest is fun….PCM is not.

I am getting a bit slow on the uptake these days! Thanks. More than 62% cure rate of nothing but sugar pills.

Hi, this is probably a silly question, but why can’t we make bridges between all land masses in the world? at least all the continents? are they too far apart? I did some research and I looked up the longest bridge, then I used Google maps to measure the distances between all the continents and it seems possible, can someone please explain this?Gab You could say the same about the UN event in the UN building that they are picketing. $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ You seem to be confusing “this world” with some magical fantasy world. It’s a known science fact.

As is widely known the Kyoto Protocol was derailed by the United States’ refusal to participate.Global warming and climate change are not myths. I wonder why you think the world is only about what works for you, is not that kind of arrogant? It sounds like some sort of Communist event. If you are going to take that stance, then you would have to explain what is real and what is not.

To cross the Strait of Gibraltar with suspension bridge would require columns something like a kilometer high. It’s quite obvious that you don’t know the difference between the two. This isn’t directed at Falcon, and maybe I’m being cynical again….but in the “Dictionary of Mac” “raising awareness” means “We aren’t really doing anything to solve the problem..we just want to feel like we are.” With a topic as generalized as climate change, something that encompasses so many different things…what exactly are they trying to raise awareness of?Bubba: Hey Vern! Thars a shitload of hippies walking down the street carrying signs.Vern: So what are they on about?Bubba: Well I done saw a chick with dreadlocks and armpit hair with a sign that said somethin’ about “climate change”Vern: Climate change?…I ain’t never heard of that.Bubba: Me neither….I hope to hell that shit don’t effect deer season…I already done got my blinds set up.Vern: Me too….hey look there….there’s a skinny https://www.wc.edu/student-email ass twig boy with a sign that says somethin’ about “reducing your carbon footprint”Bubba: What the hail is a carbon foot print?Vern: Beats me….maybe it’s somethin’ about not walking through a campfire.Bubba: What kinda fool walks through a campfire?Vern: I don’t know Bubba…I don’t know…but I guess they think it’s important. It sounds like some sort of Communist event.

Perhaps a climate information/beer tent at a gun show?Or, solar powered Tilt-a-Whirls? Depth. The last time I went to an event about environmental responsibility, they were taking signatures to go after pro-coal legislation and handing out buttons with a picture of Earth choking on black smoke.

Two hundred thousand? Meanwhile Oktoberfest has kicked off in Munich and many other cities around the world, including Cincinnati. But hey, maybe that’s a paleo thing. If they know they can give their presentation while drinking a good beer and that they have a comfy place to stay, they are generally more motivated. It sounds like some sort of Communist event.

The Florida Keys are linked by crazy long bridges, technically called “causeways” where the shallow water is marshy and rated “land”. You are right then .
